JE Import

Import Journal Entries from Excel into QuickBooks

Import Journal Entries into QuickBooks Desktop directly from Excel.  Easily create your Journal Entries in Excel using formulas or copy and paste from other systems and when you are ready, just click "Post Journal Entry" and within seconds your Journal Entry is posted to QuickBooks.

This tool posts a single Journal Entry at a time to QuickBooks from Excel. If you are interested in posting multiple Journal Entries in a single push check out JE Import Pro.

This solution was developed as we needed to post a very large (hundreds of lines) unique Journal Entry every other week for payroll.  We worked through options with IIF imports which worked, but the process was just too complicated - we wanted something much more simple.  Enter the QuickBooks Software Development Kit (SDK).  Using this tool we added some programming onto an Excel Spreadsheet, giving us these benefits:

  • Copy and Paste from other systems (email, spreadsheets, etc)

  • Build Journal Entries using Excel formulas

  • Save Journal Entry Spreadsheets to be reused as needed

  • Post very large Journal Entries to QuickBooks in seconds with the click of a button

This customization was built to meet the needs of most QuickBooks desktop users, but if you have a unique need, contact us and let's talk about a custom solution!

A Trial version of this Excel Customization is available with limited Journal Entry rows to test functionality.

  • Microsoft Excel 2013 or later (64-bit or 32-bit)

  • Does this tool work in a hosted environment?
Every hosted environment is managed according to their own business model and as security and up-time are generally high on their list of priorities, they will likely require any software to be certified before they will allow it to be installed. A trial version is available for testing if needed ( ). That said, all of our Excel Customizations will work in a hosted environment that meets the minimum system requirements, just make sure the tool is installed and running in the hosted environment and not the local desktop.
  • What if I need to upload many Journal Entries at the same time?
The JE Entry Tool is desiged to upload a single journal entry at a time which is perfect for most uses; however, if you need a tool that can upload multiple journal entries in a single push, consider the "Pro" version of the tool. More information on that tool can be found here:
